It was the first time out in a long time, and it was a long time for them to be out together in a long time.
She held his hand, and it felt too surreal and squeezed it, he squeezed back.
yea this is pretty real, he's real here.
The road beneath them sidled by them, enough for it to take its time as they walked on it.
It had been so long they walked together, let alone on the same path.
She could feel her hair absorbing the heat and this indeed, was the warmth she had not felt for a few months, there was only a breeze but unlike the cold winds she had experienced previously.
She felt her armpits warm and damp and looked over at him, wondering if too had a tiny patch under his armpits.
Stop staring, she thought, hers was probably obvious by now as her body settled into the heat a bit more.
She stopped at some shops and admired the jewellery, it was her only vice and he waited outside for her. So many choices, cute earrings, colourful and bright. Which would she wear? Which would she dare to wear? She was in there for almost half an hour and still didn't know which to pick, she had kept putting them back each time imagining she'd probably never wear it, buton the other hand, they were so cute. He was her gut feeling, more like reaffirming it, and she then bought it and was happy. He absorbed the heat and her energy and she could tell he was in a good mood.
The sounds around them grew louder and the familiar sounds of motorcycles signalled it was the end of lunch as people went back to work. There was still tourists here and there but at the most, she felt like they were the only two.
The good mood brought ahead, a sight. She saw it, she knew it. He'd stop and she'd stop with him, waiting for him to go in and pick their numbers hoping his good feeling would bring them good luck.
Though she was cynical about these things, deep down, she hoped that luck would come, because he so believed it and it made her believe too.
